Jason Rogers

Senior Pastor

Welcome to Brookhaven UMC’s new pastor, Jason Rogers. Jason grew up in Central Florida and Augusta, GA. As a member of Nazarene and then Baptist churches, he was active in international missions serving primarily in orphanages in Europe and Asia. He attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, receiving a degree in Philosophy. During this time, Jason left the church for what would be more than 20 years, seeking an expression of the God that he saw at work in people and places around the world. Jason married his college sweetheart, Jennifer, and they moved to Athens, GA. Here, Jennifer taught middle school Spanish, and Jason ran a medical equipment company for more than 15 years growing it from 1 store with 12 employees to 5 stores across Georgia and South Carolina with over a hundred employees. While running this business, Jason also completed his MBA from Duke University. After the sale of that company in 2014, Jason and his family moved to Lakeland, FL, his hometown, to seek a new beginning. Jason began working from home while his wife, Jennifer, began homeschooling their three daughters. They found their way back into the church at First United Methodist of Lakeland and the whole family found ways to get involved- choir, handbells, VBS, teaching Sunday School, attending classes and small group studies, Newcomer Committee, Adult Discipleship and Children’s Council to name a few. Through this time, Jason heard his call to ministry and will be entering Candler School of Theology at Emory University this August in addition to being the pastor of Brookhaven UMC. Jason and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 22 years and are parents to twin daughters, Hope and Lili, age 13 and Chloe, age 7. They are excited to meet each one of you, and cannot wait to join you in the many ways God is present in Brookhaven!

Director of Music Ministries

Don has been the Director of Music at Brookhaven United Church for five years. Prior to that, Don was a full time, professional pianist in NYC. Don was raised Roman Catholic (and was even an altar boy!) at St. Mary’s church in the small, vacation town of Wells, Maine. It was there where he realized his love of music. Don eventually left Maine to spend two years at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan where he studied classical piano and received his high school diploma.  After studying at New England Conservatory and receiving his Bachelor of Music degree, cum laude, from Long Island University, he made a name for himself in NYC as a pianist and accompanist. In addition to playing keyboards on Broadway for such hits as Wicked and Little Mermaid, Don maintained a private piano studio of 30+ students and freelanced throughout NYC, Long Island and Connecticut. After spending 21 years as a church pianist and music director, Don is excited to continue serving BUMC and looks forward to what the future holds!

-Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Psalm 105:2
